Today’s first speaker was Laura Kilty from Shaklee in Arvada, Colorado. Shaklee is a 57 year old company and started with the premise of healthy living through vitamins, supplements and household cleaning products. Today Laura talked to us about easy places to get started with a new wellness plan. We know we all need to eat right, good foods and the right amount, remember when you are feeding your body you are also feeding your cells and immune system. Most people agree that you should take a multi-vitamin every day to fill in the gaps your diet leaves. Be aware that the brand you choose does make a difference, with Shaklee, they test for 350 contaminants, while the industry standard is only 82. It is good to know that the company is doing the testing to make sure that the product is pure and includes a multitude of nutrients, not just the vitamins. You see this in the “gummy” type of vitamins, a small of vitamins but no minerals and then tons of sugar and fillers. You will see the same thing in many of the mass produced minerals and vitamins on the market today. You need to take a complete multi-vitamin/mineral, so Laura would like us to take a look at Shaklee’s Vita-Lee with or without iron, or their Vita-Lea Gold for those over 50. Some of the good additions you can add to your daily routine are Shaklee’s B Complex – the B complex is the happy vitamins, good for your mood, helps with irritability, depression, stress and low energy. If you notice cracks at the corners of your mouth this could mean you are B deficient, remember B’s are water soluble and need to be replaced daily. Another thing to keep in mind with the B vitamins is there are other things in your life that can drain your B’s – like medications, alcohol, refined cards and even stress ~ ironic since the B’s can help with stress.
Shaklee Fish Oil is the next product Laura spoke about. Fish Oil is good for so many things, great for heart health because it raises HDL and lowers LDL. It helps in lower blood pressure, reduces plaques and risk of blood clots and reduces inflammation. Inflammation leads to many of the chronic diseases. Fish Oil is also great for your skin and skin conditions. Fish Oil has been used for people with ADD and ADHD – helping with stabilizing mood and focus. When choosing a Fish Oil make sure you are getting pure fish oil and Shaklee does that for you with a triple distillation process – this also helps with the fishy burps that can accompany a lower quality fish oil.
A few other Shaklee products you should keep on hand are Shaklee’s Nutrierfon or Shaklee’s Defend and Resist – to keep the summer cold at bay, Shaklee’s Stomach Soothing Complex – this is a herbal blend that helps in calming upset stomachs, including discomfort caused by motion sickness. It makes the “not quite right” stomach calm again. The next item Laura talked about was the Shaklee Performance – this is clinically proven to hydrate better than water. Plus, Performance has more electrolytes and provides more energy than the leading hydration drink. A great fluid replacement product for the summer time.
Laura’s next product for a healthy life was the Shaklee Get Clean Water Pitcher that is a revolutionary new water filtration pitcher system certified by the Water Quality Association (WQA) to reduce up to 99% of lead as well as 40 other nasty contaminants. Each filter will filter 80 gallons of water and is unique in that it is a coconut shell carbon filter that fits into a reusable housing for less waste. Remember when you aren’t filtering your water – your body is the filter!
Lastly, Laura Kilty wanted to remind us that Shaklee does not only offer vitamins and supplements they also carry a full line of safe and green household cleaners, the Get Clean household cleaning products are the answer to a green, safe economical and effective cleaners – call Laura and get a trial caddy to experiment with the products before you buy! So if you are looking to get into the green and healthy lifestyle give Laura at Shaklee a call, she can work with you to improve your quality of life and live a sustainable life!!
The second speaker today was one of our new members Tina Kiel of Farmers Insurance in Golden, CO. Tina took a large part of her time to tell us all a little about her life. Tina grew up in the San Fernando Valley and went to Cal State Northridge. In 1989 Tina and her new husband moved to Grass Valley, California where they lived for ten years – during this time she continued working for a major grocery chain that she worked at in college. She worked in Sacramento managing the chains portfolio. When she had her first child she quit working to raise her kids. When they moved to Denver, Tina started looking into getting back into the work force and began looking into the insurance business, after a lot of research she found that Farmers Certified Insurance had what she felt was the best opportunity and had the best products. Tina has owned her agency now for 10 years and still loves going to work every day! Tina has been watching the trend of the 1-800 insurance companies and feels that this is a real disservice to their clients, you should have an agent that you can get ahold of in the case of an emergency, your agent is your agent and is protecting your assets! When you buy cheap insurance you get cheap service! You should also get together with your agent and review your policy to make sure you are not over paying or under insured. If you are looking to switch agents or would like to have a review of your current policies give Tina Kiel at the Tina Kiel Insurance Agency a call, she will happy to talk with you!
