Our first speaker today was Suzanne Smith from Food for Thought Catering in Wheat Ridge, CO. Suzanne’s first item of note was for us to remember that it is pumpkin roll season and she had a sample roll for us to taste. One pumpkin roll will serve 24 people and you can cut it in half then store it for later in the freezer. This time of year is a very busy time for Suzanne and Food for Thought Catering with afternoon teas. The latest tea was at Windsor Gardens for 85 women and a few brave men. For an afternoon tea Suzanne has many different options for her afternoon teas for this tea they prepared four different tea sandwiches, like cucumber sandwiches, chicken croissants and chicken salad. They also added in scones and Devonshire cream and a desert tray with chocolate covered strawberries and their hand made cream puffs. When working with a smaller group Food for Thought Caterers will offer a variety of teas but with a large group like this they serve one variety of black tea. The options for a tea are endless – you can go with a variety of sandwiches, hot or cold appetizers and so many desert options from chocolate covered strawberries to lemon bars to something as simple as brownies. The one thing that Suzanne wanted to mention is that it is more expensive to do fancy appetizers than it is to do a full dinner. The reason for that is the amount of hand work that is required is creating the fancy appetizers! The Food for Thought Caterers do teas all around town at the Breyers Evens House, the Serenity Flower Shop and Denver Womens’s Press Club. So keep the afternoon tea in mind for your next bridal or baby shower or Red Hat group – the Food for Thought team will make it an event to remember!

Our second speaker was Terry Gore with Stampin’ Up in Lakewood, CO. Terry started off her talk today by talking about the wide varieties of collections that Stampin’ Up offers. These collections offer you the total package to create the perfect card! Stampin’ Up has themes for the holidays, baby showers, birthday parties and graduations with matching papers, ribbons, punches, stamps and ink to make you look like a professional! Terry passed around several of the recent cards she has created for us to look at and they were all very creative and would be the perfect touch for a special occasion. Terry has found the collection that has been introduced a lot of fun to play with – it is called the Chalk Talk collection. It creates the look of a chalkboard and creates a fun card. Terry shared her “over the top” card from last year’s Stampin’ Up Convention – This is a card that has at least five layers and uses a variety of techniques and Terry said that these cards are usually only given to those that are card worthy and she knows the card will be kept and treasured for years! The last item that Terry shared with us was a project for her daughter’s graduation a piece that was created is Stampin’ Up’s My Digital Studio Program. She used a template from My Digital Studio and had it printed out to the correct size for a canvas she had, Terry mounted the picture on the canvas and then added some bling along with a QR code that leads back to another Stampin’ Up product that allows you to record a message to the recipient – really a cool new addition to the Stampin’ Up world! If you need a Stampin’ Up demonstrator that will help you get creative give Terry Gore a call!!
