The first speaker for today’s meeting was Mary Walker from Walk Solutions in Golden, Colorado. Mary’s talk today was pulled from a current program that she is doing with some of her current clients on gratitude. She started the Gratitude Project to see how coming from a different place would affect their business. The development of this project came from her recent family vacation, where they totally unplugged from the world and the lessons and joy that she experienced with that. She had noticed that a few of her clients were suffering from malaise in their business, so she started this 21-day program with these clients and shared it with us today.
Week 1: think in threes – three things that make you happy – be detailed and specific. Share your
gratitude with others, talk the talk! Do not communicate the burden or frustration.
Week 2: still doing all the things from week 1 – Focus on giving thanks with specific actions and
offerings. Write a letter to a person in your life telling them how they had a positive impact
on your life. Find a place to volunteer, something that you have passion for.
Week 3: once again – bring the actions from the past 2 weeks into week 3. Look for those unexpected
heroes, such as a check out person or wait person that made you smile and thank them. Find the
silver linings in uncomfortable or bad situations – take a hard look at what you learned from
being in that place.
The program is not a one size fit all type of program and she has worked to modify for each client’s situation and need – this is what working with a coach offers you. The other point that Mary wanted to explain to us is that a coach is not a therapist – a coach will focus on the future not the past. If you are looking for a business coach that will design the best plan for you give Mary Walker at Walker Solutions a call!
