Today’s first speaker was Kay Cruson, one of our new members, a personal accountant in Lakewood, Colorado. Kay wanted to take her time today to introduce herself to us. She has a BS in Accounting from Metropolitan State College in Denver and a Certificate of Achievement in Bookkeeping and Office Skills from Arapahoe Community College. Kay has worked in the past as a library assistant, file clerk and a secretary; these were the jobs that helped her focus on accounting. One of the reasons that she loves accounting is that she gets to on many occasions to organize the disorganized. She offers full-charge accounting and payroll services along with preparation of sales taxes for the small business. Kay also does a lot of work with personal representatives and attorneys on decedent’s estates. She is very capable of working through the complications in an estate with from sibling rivalry to be your liaison with the personal representative and attorneys, to lessen your stress during this very difficult time.
Kay also offers income tax preparation everything from the 1040EZ to Estates and Trusts to S Corporation to Non-Profits or form 990. She can also work closely with the IRS and State on your behalf to resolve those many issues that the tax system can create. Currently Kay is studying to become an Enrolled Agent licensed by the IRS – this is a certification that is administered by the IRS. An Enrolled Agent is given the authority by the IRS to prepare tax returns, advise and represent individuals, estates, corporations, partnerships and trusts. Enrolled Agents are experts who keep up with the ever changing area of taxation. They are therefore effectively able to represent persons who are audited by the IRS. Enrolled Agents receive their license from the federal government while Certified Public Accountants and attorneys are usually licensed by the state in which they reside. Kay will be finishing the process this month!
At this time Kay is focusing on building her client base to include small businesses, small non-profits and age enhanced clients – to help with capital preservation, tax estate planning and medical planning. She is accepting new clients and will be very happy to discuss your current situation with you. Kay is also a Notary Public and a current member of the National association of Tax Professionals. If you are in need of an accountant or tax professional give Kay Cruson a call.
