Travel Agency/Chiropractor-Acupuncture – Colorado
Today’s first speaker was Juli Parrott, owner of Table Mountain Travel. She started of today speaking of travel insurance, which is important on those big vacations-like cruises or all inclusive packages. Juli related stories about one client that was getting ready for a cruise and the week prior to leaving she broke her leg and couldn’t go and lost her whole vacation. Another gentleman client was leaving for an all inclusive trip in Mexico and actually got stuck in traffic on the way to the airport – missing his flight and his vacation too. It is something that many people don’t think about – we all think that no matter what we are going and there won’t be any problems. Buying travel insurance through your agent or third party insurance (rather than through the airline or cruise company) is generally the best way to go and will generally cost around 10.00 per 100.00 of the vacation cost. Don’t loose your vacation over a traffic jam or health issues. Juli, then gave us a travel quiz including a variety of unusual vacation spots around the world – we found that not many of had no idea where Lake Bykal was.

Our second speaker was Dr. Erin Foley Kruse, owner of Mountain Lifestyles Chiropractic and Acupuncture Center, in Golden Colorado. She has been at the same location since 1997 – prior to that she owned Ventura Chiropractic in California. Erin offers a combination of chiropractic and acupuncture to help her patients in the way that is best for them. She discussed the problems that chiropractic adjustments can be effective in healing, such as lower back pain and sciatica, migraine and tension headaches, chronic pain-which includes that moment when you get out of bed and can’t straighten up, fibromyalgia and sports injuries. The benefits of chiropractic care are that your body is interconnected and your spinal cord and vertebrae connect it all together and play a primary role in overall health of the entire body. In realigning the spinal column you get all the nerves working properly – it will reduce pain and allow more flexibility and movement, then further adjustments can be used to increase wellness and prevention of your overall health. Acupuncture has been used in Chinese medicine for over 2000 years working with the “meridians” in the body - these are the pathways of energy which flow through the body and connects all organs and tissues. Erin explained that traditional Acupuncture was thought of as expelling the illness or trauma from the the body, it achieves this by opening up the blocked or stagnant meridians and allowing the energy to flow. there is research that shows that acupuncture can reduce inflammation and release muscle spasms through the release of endorphins in the joints.

I get acupuncture done oncea month. It makes me feel100times better. I don’t know why we “westerners” don’t take Chinese medicine more seriuosly.
