Our first speaker today was Angela Wilhelmi of NuSkin Galvanic Spa, she started her speech today by using Becky Shirey for a full face demonstration. As Angela worked on Becky’s face she explained how the 2 step treatment works as she demonstrated – the first step is the ageLOC pre-treatment – which is designed to help purify the treatment area by pulling out the excess oil and pollutants. The negative charges in the gel and negative charge in the Galvanic Spa move the purifying ingredients deep into the pores and bind with the impurities to move them out of the pores, allowing them to breathe. Today our second speaker was Becky Shirey of Farmers Insurance in Golden, Colorado. Becky wanted to discuss today was the Next Generation Homeowners coverage offered by Farmers Insurance. The policy is built in two sections Section 1 is the Property Coverage:

Coverage A is the dwelling

Coverage B is separate structures (10% of Coverage A)

Coverage C is your personal property (75% of Coverage A)

Coverage D is for loss of use (40% of Coverage A)

It also includes an additional +25% Coverage A limits for Extended Replacement Cost and an option for +50% and +10% Coverage A limits for Building Ordinances or Law upgrades required after a covered loss with an option for +25 or 50%.

The Coverage provided with A,B & C is for Modified Open Perils such as – accidental, direct physical loss or damage, less the exclusions when losses and damage are not covered.

The Key Exclusion for Section 1 on Property are water and water damage, wear and tear, contaminations, marring, fungi, earth movement, faulty construction, certain thefts, mysterious disappearances, vandalism or arson if the dwelling is vacant, animals, tree roots and intentional acts. Make sure to read your state’s contract for all applicable exclusions.

Extensions of Coverage for Property on Coverage A (dwelling) are limited water coverage, extended replacement cost, building ordinance or law upgrades and debris removal. Coverage C extension is content replacement costs. Identity Fraud and Lock re-keying can be added on to any section.

Section 2 is the Liability Coverage Section:

Coverage E is Personal Liability.

Coverage F is Medical Payments to Others.

The Coverage provided in the Liability Section for Coverage E which will pay for the damages that the insured is legally obligated to pay because bodily injury and/or property damage resulting from a covered occurrence. Also pays for the defense of the insured against any lawsuit covered under E. Coverage F pays for reasonable medical expenses for necessary medical services furnished to a person to whom coverage applies for treatment of bodily injury.

The Key Exclusions in the Liability Section include business pursuits; contractual agreements arising out of use of rental property; sale of property; property in the insured’s care, custody and control; intentional acts; transmitting a communicable disease; home care services; use of aircraft, motor vehicles or watercraft; fugus or noxious substances; punitive damages; statutory liability and molestation and criminal acts.

Extensions in the Liability Section include claims expenses; damage to property of others; loss assessment coverage and personal injury (optional). Today’s first speaker was one of our newest members Becky Shirey from Farmers Insurance in Golden, Colorado. The first thing that Becky discussed with us as she passed out a brochure from READYColorado was what would you grab if you only had a short period of time to get out of your house. In light of the tragedies in Joplin and now in Massachusetts – READYColorado has a Pack A Kit Checklist – this is a list of those items you will need to survive in case of a disaster. On this list they suggest having gallon water enough for each family member 1 gallon per person per day, food-such as high protein snacks ready to eat soup but most important is to select foods that don’t need refrigeration, preparation or can be cooked with little or no water. Some critical items that should be included are flashlights and batteries, first aid kit, any medications that you or a family member take, battery operated radio, pet supplies and vaccination records (for those four legged members), sanitary products like toilet paper and hygiene products, money (as atm machines and credit cards won’t work in a power outage) and contact information for family members. They also recommend tools – such as a hammer, can opener, pliers and knives, clothing include sturdy shoes and gloves and personal items like glasses or contact lens, keep you passport or birth records in an easily accessible place. One other item to keep in mind is that if a disaster happens during the day while you are separated from your family you should have a designated meeting place that you all know. Liability – Bodily Injury/Property Damage – in Colorado the minimum set by the state is 25/50/15 and you can insure up to 250/500/100. Under Liability is also Uninsured Motorist Coverage with a state minimum of 25/50 – this is very important when you realize that 60% of drivers out there are uninsured.
Material Damage – this falls under your Comprehensive/Collision depending on whether is was a natural disaster or man made damage.
Deductibles – your deductible is the money out of pocket you will pay per incident – you can have a deductible as low as 100.00 or up to 750.00 – going with a higher deductible will save you around 20.00 every six months. This is an important item to discuss with your agent!

Today our spotlight speaker was called out of town so Angela Wilhelmi of NuSkin Galvanic Spa stepped in and took her place. Angela’s presentation today started with a demonstration on herself and her varicose veins that she got from her last pregnancy. So she pulled her pants up to her knee and spread the NuSkin Body Gel and the NuSkin Peppermint Gel, which provides extra circulation and stimulation to the effected area. The peppermint gel will help speed up the changes to the effected tissues using the gel in conjunction with the line corrector head on the Galvanic Spa. Using the line corrector for this application will allow you to focus the gels into a small area and increase the repair to the vein. Angela will be doing this treatment everyday for 10 minutes and give us an update in a week. Angela went on to discuss a client who was battling gangrene on one of his feet – he started using the Galvanic Spa on the effected area for 10 minutes a day. He was noticing significant changes in just two weeks and after the third week the area was almost completely healed. Angela went on to explain that with the Galvanic spa you can use it, not just for tightening skin and making you look younger, but also can be used to heal those areas that need help. The first of our speakers today was Maki DeLaet of EduCyber in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Maki talked today about the time saving tools in Microsoft Outlook. The main thing to keep in mind about Microsoft Outlook 2007 is that it can be synced with your PDA, Blackberry, iPhone and the Droid. Maki had her computer and walked us through many of the main screens – showing us first in the general area where to find the help menu and how to change the views on your screen. She took us through many of the functions of Microsoft Outlook such as how to customize your screen for your needs – such as what you need to see first thing like your calendar for the day. Maki demonstrated how to set up the task option in Outlook and how simply you can use the task options to organize your tasks and how you can easily prioritize, show the status of the task and how to change the percentage of completion. Helping you keep track of your progress on any job you have in production. Outlook also allows you to color code you events and projects to help you keep track of who in your office is doing which project or meeting. Then Maki moved on to the calendar options – first showing us how to change the view so you can customize for how many days you want to see at once. She then showed how us how to setup appointments and the variety of options that we can use. In the Outlook calendar functions you can set up one time appointment or recurring appointments which once set up will show up on the same day for the amount of time you select. Another time saving function of Outlook is when an email comes in with an event you need or want to attend you can simply drag the event to your calendar and it will put in on the correct day and time. The calendar will also remind you that the event is coming up – with this option you can set it up to remind you up to a day in advance. The last item Maki discussed with us was that with an office network you can view every one’s schedule at a glance, making scheduling very easy as you can identify who is available and who is not. Our first speaker today was Suzanne Smith – owner of Food for Thought Catering of Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Suzanne is celebrating 25 years of service to her clients this year and still loves her job!! Suzanne started off her talk today about reminding all of us about the usefulness of aprons – We have all seen aprons over the years on our Grandmothers, Mothers and sometime even ourselves (although I do not own one). Aprons were initially designed to protect the dress of the woman of the house before the advent of the washing machine, but was put in to practice with many other uses – such as picking up hot dishes, carrying in eggs from the hen house and vegetables from the garden, dust the furniture before guests arrive, or drying your children and grandchildren’s tears. Now aprons are saved for those who want to make people laugh, but for people like Suzanne they still have an everyday application! Suzanne also wanted to share today about keeping a safe and clean kitchen. She called this talk Cleaning 101 – several ways to keep yourself safe from kitchen bacteria and they all may not be what you think! The first idea is what we should all do all the time when cooking – wash your hands 20 seconds between foods this will help keep cross contamination from happening, another helpful hint is Cutting Board cleanup – in Suzanne’s kitchen they have a cutting board for each different food product – meat, veggies and etc.. In your own kitchen you might consider having two – on for meat and one for veggies. But when cleaning if you can’t put the cutting board in the dish washer then you next best alternative is bleach or undiluted vinegar. Another area that you may not think to much about is your sink, you need to keep your sink clean and most sinks harbor 18,000 bacteria per square inch, that doesn’t sound good. The clean up can be as simple as very hot soapy water and occasionally a mixture of 1 tablespoon of bleach per quart of water will add insurance for safety. For those of us who still use sponges in our kitchens… this is the worst offender of bacteria and germs in you kitchen! If you do use a sponge in the kitchen keep in mind that because it stays wet for extended periods of time that bacteria can grow quickly and if reused you are spreading that bacteria to the counter and possibly to your food. To help eliminate the bacteria and germs in sponges it is recommended that you either boil the sponge for five minutes, microwave it for a minute or two – but be careful because on full power can melt it or throw it in the dishwasher along with the dishes from your meal. As for cleaning fruits and vegetables – don’t buy the high priced cleaners – a mixture of 3 parts water and 1 part vinegar will work just as effectively, and yes, you should wash the outside of fruits and vegetables because when cutting you are pulling all those germs into the cut with the slice of the blade! Keep in mind that that most bacteria thrive 40 and 140 degrees and bacteria can double about every twenty minutes – as a rule food shouldn’t stay in this “danger zone” for more than two hours. These quick tips can help keeping your kitchen clean!
